KICK STOPPED WORKING

2010-07-03 by bigbearstyx

Checked wires they work..on other toms.
Checked kick it works..in other inputs.
Can one channel just go dead..?
\AND is the a (kick) work around to get kick somehow to work if KICK channel is dead,..?
Damn ! gotta gig tonight .!!!

I think there is a menu option to swap two inputs - 1 & 8 I think. It may help until you can sort out what's wrong. Sorry I cannot be more specific - no access to the manuals at the moment.

Keith Raper.

It's probably too late to help your gig, but you can swap inputs 1 & 9. You don't say which model DTXpress it is, but in the DTXpress III manual it is in the reference manual page 15 - section 2.3 "Input Exchange". That should allow you to use input 9 for your kick without having to reprogram all the kits.

It is possible for a module input to fail - just a bad connection on the connector in the module could do it - but I haven't heard of it happening. I don't know if it is possible that you have accidentally changed something, or the module settings have become corrupted, but it is worthwhile checking the trigger settings: pad type, MVEL, GAIN. Also, check the attenuator switch on the back of the module. Even check you haven't already got a 1 to 9 input swap. In trigger edit mode see if you are getting a display when you hit the pad, even if there is no sound. Check rejection settings look sensible (although I don't think you can adjust them far enough to stop it working).

Thxs Keith...
I'll get my manual out.!
WAS ABLE TO SWAP 1 FOR 9 --BUT I HAD TO CHANGE IT FOR each of THE KITS I USE MOST. Maybe I shoulod have done it differently -
also..something very weird, is still happeneing.I reversed cables....
so 9 (- extra cymbal)is wired to where 1 (kick) was~ I hit my kick-- cymabal sounds. Hit the cymbal-- kick sounds! so pads work. imputs work.
cables work--- then, I SIMPLY swap 1 and 9 imputs/cables..
and- the 9 Cymbal crashes and the 1 kick ¨ does nothing....nothing.
It just worked 5 secs a go with the cymbal....- but now rejects the kick ;sound'..?
weird huh Keith?
again...back to the manual...

I'm not sure what you have done, but a 1<>9 swap should allow you to plug the kick into 9 and not change the kits at all. I just tried it on mine and it works fine.
