Duplicating the Dynamic Sound Quality from Headphones using an Amp (& what type)

Duplicating the Dynamic Sound Quality from Headphones using an Amp (& what type)

2011-11-15 by edrumsrich

Sorry guys. I'm new to this group and this question may have been covered already. I found a lot of Amp msgs, but none answered the specific question.
When I play with other musicians, the sound I hear through my headphones (from the DTX output)is very high quality while the sound coming out of an amp (or even a good PA/Main or monitors)is of a much lesser quality.
Is this a common problem when gigging and if so, are there any answers to this issue.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me and I ask for your patience and understanding if this was already covered...
Thanks.
Rich

I use a 300W bi-amped PA with 15" bass unit which seems to sound pretty good and gets favourable comments. Even so, it doesn't have to be that loud to start to clip the amplifier so I guess you need a lot of power, particularly for reproducing the kick. Some sort of equalisation can help, although I tend to adjust that in the module and leave the PA flat.

See page 76 of the Owner's Manual - it is under [UT5] System Utility - LCDcont

Hi Keith,

Sorry to be a pain in the hoop, but any chance you could just give me the gist of it, I can probably find it if I know which buttons to press first. I thought it would be under utility, but I'm probably just a bit blind.

I do have the manual somewhere, but no idea where it is - haven't seen it since I moved house :(

The easiest way is to download the manuals from here: http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/index.php

There are three manuals - it is in the first one - the Owner's Manual.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
