I don't know what operating system and what software you are using,
but...
1) You need to enable your midi-in using control panel.
2) Then you need to use a sequencer software such as cakewalk or
midijammer and enable midi-in (or midi-thru I don't remember right
now) there too.
Provided your hardware (cable, etc.) is OK the above should work. The
PC that I'm currently using (in office) does not have any sound
capability, but if you can't manage to get any sound let me know,
I'll try to prepare a list of the exact things you need to do once I
get home (assuming you have win95/98/me).
