Adding the "crossbrace" to old set.

Adding the "crossbrace" to old set.

2002-02-20 by Rolf Baehr

Hi,

Has anybody added the extra horizontal cross brace to their old set? Did
that help quite a bit with stability? I have already added the 2 braces
that go from the uprights down to the "feet" parts and that helped quite a
bit. Only stability problem now is that the two upright legs get outta
wack, and so the two "feet" bars don't sit squarly on the floor... gotta
move the rack around a bit to get the two to sit squarely on the floor at
the same time.

If you have and it helped, what parts did you order (I assume just the bar
and two clamps), and where did you buy them?

Any help appreciated.

Rolf

I had bought a pair of metal gibraltar rack clamps for
the front crossbar. After that the rack didn't need a
second crossbar. It stands very steady and wobbles
very little even when you play hard. I think the lack
of stability is because of those flimsy plastic clamps
included. The aluminum pipe rack provides plenty of
support. I think you should try getting two real rack
clamps and try them first. You will probably notice
that the gibraltar clamps are easier on set up and
tear down. -Joe
