S&S kick pad hookup

S&S kick pad hookup

2000-01-18 by Rolf Baehr

Pete,

As far as hooking up the S&S stealth pad, (and by the way, their new web
address with updated info is at: www.triggerperfect.com) you fasten it to
your pedal just like you do the Yamaha tower.. it has a flange on the front
of it so it hooks up just like normal. The wire plug-in is on the side of
it, so the wire isn't sticking up in the air to trip over like on the tower.
It uses a "reverse beater" that has a couple of bends in the shaft, and
the beater comes up thru the bottom of the beater mechanism on the pedal
instead of down thru the top like a normal beater. So each time you hit your
pedal, the beater is actually going tword the ground to strike the pad.
Nice low profile... don't have to have that big tower sticking up, and makes
the pad/pedal assembly easier to move around. And another thing I really
like about it is that, at least with the Pearl pedal that I use, with the
Yamaha tower, it never sat flat on the floor at the middle where the tower
and pedal join... it sat off the ground about 1/2" so it bounced up and down
with each stroke. This combo sets nice and flat on the ground, doesn't
budge an inch, and it has the velcro bottom on it too like your pedal.
Makes a very sturdy assembly that really improves the feel of each stroke.

Hope that answers your questions. Let me know if you need further. You
know, you'd think I was a salesman for these things huh! Maybe I better ask
for a cut of the profits. Well, this setup may not be for everybody, but
it works very well for me. Just gotta check out your options.

Keep on drummin'

Rolf
