Drum Advice

2002-04-08 by fwade4

Hello all,

I am a rookie drummer (to put it modestly) and have been doing some
research on different sets. I live in the apartment and quickly
realized that an electronic set is my only option. I have been
checking on ebay and have narrowed my decision down to the old Roland
TD-5, TD-7, Yamaha DTX 2.0 and the Yamaha DTXPRESS. I do not want to
spend too much but I am not knowledgeable enough about the differences
between these sets to make an educated decision. Any advice would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Frank

I'd suggest the dtxpress. It is great for new and
experienced drummers. The groove check will be
especially useful to you as it will help you keep good
time should you move on to live performance. Also the
interface is easy to use.

You should be careful what type of kick trigger you
use with the kit, some trigger will create a pretty
severe thump for the person in the apartment
underneith you. I know you can use the hihat pedal on
the dtxpress as a very quiet kick trigger. The stock
kick trigger with roland's v-club set is also a quiet
choice
