Manual, click (new member with silly questions!)

Manual, click (new member with silly questions!)

2002-05-06 by Patricio Murphy

Hello,
I play in a band down here in Argentina. We decided it was better to replace our acoustic drums with a DTXpress in order to simplify our gigging, but for some reason the manual was lost, so we had to figure it all out with the quick reference guide.
I already emailed Yamaha and we'll see if they have the same policy regarding manuals for this part of the world.
In the meantime, I have one important question: we are not able to control the click's volume (which is outrageously loud!). the obvious doesn't seem to work (the knob labeled Click). Any clue?
I'm not the drummer in the band, but I'm the one who does most of the programming anyway. I'm quite happy with everything, excepting the rides. I have problems making them sound natural, particularly when there are several near strikes. I'll thank any idea as of how to get the most out of them.
Well, nice to be here, I'll continue posting questions as they appear.
Thanks a lot!

If you go to this site you can download the manual in an Adobe Acrobat
format:
http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/download.php?div=emi&lang=english

Hope this helps!

Patricio,

Yamaha has downloadable manuals of most, if not all, of their products. You can
download the DTXpress manual in PDF format here:
http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/download.php?div=emi&lang=english

Just type in DTXpress in the "MODEL Search" and click "Search", and the system
will bring up the PDF downloads.

Regarding the click volume. When in 'live' mode, the Click button
controls the kick volume( see the little'kick' label under the 'click'
label?) You need to switch to 'volmode=practice'. Press the 'utility '
button. Then Page Down twice. this takes you to VolMode. Use the Value
- + to select 'practice".

As for the ride performance, I don't think you will get sastifactory
response with the PCY-60. There is a sensitivity control under the
cymbal. This may help. But, I use a TP-60, a regular tom tom pad. It
works great. perfect response with any type playing, from light
intricate tapping, to full pounding! Then you just have to get in
there and edit those sounds for the perfect sound.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Im sitting at my DTX now. I can silence the click by
turning the click volume knob all the way to the left.
Maybe yours is broken.

Unfortunately, the DTXpress is not in the list for the moment.
Thanks anyway, I'll check it out in the future, maybe they add it.
