MIDI Help

MIDI Help

2002-05-15 by Kris Richardson

I'm new to this list, new to the DTXpress, and VERY new to MIDI in
general. I'm a drummer who finally broke from his purist thinking and
decided to enter the world of triggers. So far so good. I have Ddrum
triggers on my acoustic kit and everything seems to be working well. My
question is this- I'd like to have a couple of my triggers run through
the DTXpress and fire some sounds from my MIDI keyboard, but the manual
is pretty vague on how to do it and so far I'm having no luck. Any help
would be much appreciated. Thanks...

Kris,
I'm new to the DTXpress too, and I'm not even a drummer. I don't even have
the manual yet!
But after some figthing I got to make it work with our sequencer, so I may
help.
Be sure you have the little switch in the back set to "MIDI". In the UTILITY
section you have to set the DTXpress to accept MIDI messages. You have
assorted options as to what MIDI messages the thing accepts. To be sure just
set all MIDI options to ON (it won't hurt).
Then set your keyboard to transmit over Channel 10, where all the action
drumwise occurs. That should make it. I used it to play the DTXpress from my
MIDI guitar and sequencer.
Remember that, via splits, you can access also the other sounds in the
DTXpress, which is nice since there are quite a lot of nice ones.
Hope this helps

are you going to run the ddrum trigs directly to the
DTXpress brain?

I was planning on running them to the DTXpress brain, and then out to the
keyboard, and then run my keyboard to the mixer, as well as running the
outputs of the brain to the mixer. Can I use some triggers to fire the
samples in the DTX brain, and at the same time have other triggers run
through the DTX and out to fire the samples in the synth, simultaneously?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
