Rack part needed and power source question

Rack part needed and power source question

2002-05-23 by evolve555_pool

I just purchased the DTXpress used for $600 which was a fairly good
deal, but I bought the older version that doesn't have that extra bar
in the back for additional support. I have the bar that holds the
toms and everything, but I have noticed in photos online of the newer
version that there is a similar bar below that that seems to keep the
entire rack sturdy. I am looking to see if anyone here knows where I
can either buy that bar, or what part I could get that would get the
rack to be a lot more study, especially if I am taking it on tour.
Thanks!
-Sam

If you really want the extra bar any standard rack bar
and clamps will do the job. You really don't need it
though. What makes the rack shakey and unstable are
its flimbsy plastic clamps. That cheap plastic is
made to bend and not break. What you need is
gibraltar's metal right angle clamps. They're
standard clamps that come with all of gibraltar's
racks. If you use these just on the front crossbar
you'll notice an immediate difference. They will hold
tight enough to keep the bar from turning and the
threads are much heavier, stripping is rarely a
problem. I did this last summer and I play out about
3 or 4 times a month without any problems. You can
get knock-off brands but just make sure they're metal
clamps and the threads are tightened with a wingnut or
wingscrew and not a knob. I hope this helps. -Joe

Hi,
When listening to the dtxpress via a headphone, I only hear from one side. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!!

I've put PAN on C. Still no sound on the left side. Do you need a certain type of headphone or something?

Maybe there is a problem with the headphone output, try to listen to the the
other outputs on the rear pannel if you can. These outputs are seperated
outputs so you will just hear the right channel and the left one. They are
not amplified so listen carefully. Do you hear anything from the 2 outputs?

would have to be panned. Gotta be a headphone problem.

Re: [DTXpress] Rack part needed and power source question

2002-05-23 by Walt

Hi Sven,

Many have suggested that higher quality headphones are
more desireable, due to sound quality, but I have not
heard complaints about only hearing 1 channel. They
should be stereo (of course) but there are no other
requirements that I know of. I would, as Vivean
suggests, try to isolate where the problem is by tring
the other outputs, or another pair of headphones -
stuff like that. If you have not modified the
settings too much, you may also want to try resetting
the module to factory presets. Walt

Maybe this is too obvious, but..., did you check the headphone, didn't you? If the headphone (and/or adapter, if needed) is OK and you've set PAN to C, there could just be something wrong with the headphone out.
