Anyone else ever had this problem?

Anyone else ever had this problem?

2002-07-02 by Sam P.

I was at rehearsal the other day when all of a sudden one of my tom pads went out. The thing is, the one that went out was on Tom2, and I assigned a bass drum to it because I was playing along with loops on those pads. So I immediately switched to another kit to troubleshoot the problem, and alas, that pad was out on other kits. So I switched it one last time and the pad came back to life, but only on kits that weren't assigned that particular bass drum sound that I assigned to it. When it's any other kit, the pad works great. When it's a kit that I am using that I assigned that particular bass drum to that pad, that pad doesn't play at all. But the pad still triggers, obviously because it works on other kits and it triggers it to switch when I hit the pad when I go into the VOICE edit mode. It is the most bizarre thing.. any clues?
Thanks

What happens when you change the voice or note number on tom2? Can
you tell if it's registering the hit but not producing a sound, or
it's simply not registering the hit?

It is definately registering the hit, (I basically went into the voice edit function and hit other pads and watched it change, and sure enough I hit tom2 and it swithed as well and showed that it registered the hit, even gave me a velocity reading but no sound) basically I think I somehow globally turned off all the bass drums, because I noticed the problem affected only the kick sounds. I wrote down all my settings for each pad, and then I reset the entire unit back to it's factory settings and remapped my kits. Painstaking process but it worked and did it just in time to make the show..

That's weird. Hope it never happens again...
