Multimedia speakers

2002-08-17 by Aaron Johnson

Does anyone have suggestions on multimedia speakers I could hook up to
my DTXpress instead of using an amp.
I'm looking for a set with 2 smaller satellite speakers and a sub
woofer. Preferably 75 watts or higher. I'm currently using a bass amp
(at 75 watts) which works fine, but I figured with some multimedia
speakers I could better the same if not better results and in STEREO.
My plan is/was to mount the satellite speaker onto the rack and place
the sub woofer on the floor.
If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions, or recommendations, please let
me know.
I'm sure Yamaha makes a set of speakers for the kit too, but I suspect
they're pricey.
Thanks

Hi Aaron,

Roland's PM-3 monitor system seems to be what you';re
describing - a sub woofer and a pair of satellite
speakers. They do show up in Ebay - new price is
around $650. Musicians Friend had a Scratch and Dent
one for around $570, if I remember correctly... Walt

yeah,i've seen a few on vdrums.com in their classifieds section ,but
you gotta be quick to snag them up on there, also you may want to
throw a wanted ad on harmony central, and check there classifieds as
well . unless you want to go with a new one,but even then there are
dealers that sell on there as well . so you may want to give it a
shot.. i demoed one about a month ago and for e-drums it's a nice way
to go...

Hey Aaron,
I'm looking at the same option, a Roland PM-3, and can tell you only
what I've learned through research and that is: Roland has produced
a fine quality monitoring system for edrums that is entirely too
pricey. Put more bluntly by my darling wife: "HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU
PLAN TO SPEND ON THESE DRUMS?!!!" :-) The PM-3 system quoted to me
by MusiciansBuy.com was $574.95 plus a $35 upcharge for overweight
shipping.
Hope that helps.
