dtx or dtxpress

2002-09-15 by longie62

Hi,
Great group I have learnt an enormous amount reading through all the
postings. But one thing I cannot work out is whether I should grab a
second hand DTX kit or a new dtxpress kit. Prices are roughly the
same, but I am assuming as the dtx is 18 months or so old that the
progresion in technology to the new dtxpress could be a better
option. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers from downunder.

Dtxpress does not have any advantages over DTX (ver.2). But new
DtxpressII has triple zone snare. That is you can get three different
sounds (one main, two rims) out of one pad.

Obvious advantages of DTX: It has more inputs (one stereo, two mono),
it can layer five voices (as opposed to two in Dtxpress). It has a
better user interface. It has slightly more sounds.

Same pads can be used on both (except triple zone pad can only be
used in DtxpressII). Rim shots, chokes are possible on both (with
proper pads). If Dtxpress and DTX have the same price, then
definitely DTX. If you think triple zone snare is useful, then
DtxpressII.

Re: [DTXpress] dtx or dtxpress

If you want my opinion. I say go DTX all the way!
More sound choices, more inputs and a much better kick
trigger is included. I know that the dtx kits are
discontinued though, you can still get components.
That's a factor to weigh out.
