Specification...

Specification...

2002-12-06 by Jon Britton

Im confused about the different titles and prices i have seen for
the DTXpress, one supplier has called it 'DTXpress', one 'DTExpress'
and also 'DTXpress 2' and 'DTXpress 2k'. I am thinking about buying
a set and I am wondering the difference...

Also which kit has the 'new 3 zone snare drum pad'? And how much
would I expect to pay for one of these kits?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought the DTXpress II. It has the 3 "zone" snare. After Buying it, a
throne, and a Yamaha bass pedal, I spent right around $1,000. As for the
other names, it's probably just people unfamiliar with the proper name. I
couldn't tell you anything as far as difference between the DTXpress and
DTXpress II. But, I'm sure there are more qualified people in the group to
answer that question.

This kit is pretty much known as the DTXpress and the DTxpress2. I
wonder if you can still buy the DTXpress brand new being as though
the 2 is already available. I would think you would want the new one
though because it has an upgraded module, a better and stronger rack
3 zone pad for the snare and a kick pad that can handle a double bass
pedal plus more new features that I'm not too familar with but some
of the other members will know I'm sure. Over here in NY the DTX2
goes for a grand without a throne or kick pedal but maybe you can get
it cheaper. Anyway if you have any more questions just post them
these cats in this group are great. There real knowledgeable and are
willing to answer.
Well good luck and welcome.

Ther DTXpress II is definately the way to go. Original DTXpress is
still available for around $700.The II is $999.99.
The DTXpress 2K was an improved version of the original DTXpress. It
had more rack braces, and included a stereo pad for snare, and a
stereo pad for cymbals. The original had all mono pads.

I bought a DTXpress a couple months ago. I see no difference in the
rack between my older model and the DTXpress II.

The DTXpress (2002 release) featured the same rack that the
DTXpressII did, but without the red highlights. The center support
bar and the side supports are red on the II's. As for module
upgrades, I have not seen anything that the II's brain has that the
original brains did not. The Cymbals on the II are also "dimpled" to
make them look "more cymballic" (ok, bad joke...)

Basically the time line on the DTXpress looks something like this...

DTXpress - All single zone pads - DTXPU module - RS60 rack with no
support... (there were a few of these units that shipped with the
RS80 rack that featured a very thin support in the center of the
rack)

DTXpress (2002 model) - Dual Zone snare, crash, single zone ride,
toms, hat - DTXPU module - RS60 rack with center support.

DTXpressII - Same as the 2002 model, but with the "Tri" Zone snare
(the thrid effect is triggered by both triggers firing at the same
time), dimpled cymbals, and new "red" rack supports.

As for what they do, everyone would be very happy with any of the
above kits. On Ebay the DTXpress' are going for about $500, the
2002's are going for about $650 and the II's are about $900-1000 but
are usually new...

Hope this helps a bit...
