basic midi questions

basic midi questions

2002-12-07 by eugenecanady <eugenecanady@yahoo.com>

hey all, just bought the last available dtxpress limited edition and
have a couple questions cause im having some trouble...

1. out of the box should the dtxpress receive midi and tnasmit it?
2. if so, what channel does it defalt to? it appears that at least
some of the sysex messages go through channel 10.

3. ive gone through the manual and the list archive and tried some
differnt stuff, but its a no go for me. all im trying to do is play
midi notes into PC cubase 5 and then have cubase tell the dtx what to
play back. just simple stuff but the solution is eluding me.

4. do i have to be on a specific kit for the trasmission?

thanks in advance for any assistance,
eugene

Look on the back of the unit. There is a tiny multi-position switch.
Make sure it is in the proper position for the trans/receive mode you
are using.

scott,
thanks a bunch. doh! i had all my cables pluged in and didnt even
notice that little thing. just not used to that kind of hardware
switch.
it seems that it responds to ch 10 for playback and now im good.

Yeah, I missed it, too. All I wanted to do was use a midi patch
transmitter to change kits. A really simple device. But would it work?
Not without that little switch being in the right place!
Glad it worked out.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
