Mixer reccomendations

Mixer reccomendations

2002-12-12 by jadiebooshkie <jadiebooshkie@yahoo.com>

Hi guys...what do you suggest for a relatively small mixer that's
good, but inexpensive for running the boombox and my headphones?

You might try the Rolls MX28 Mini-Mix VI. It can handle three stereo
inputs; it has a headphone jack; and it's very small. I don't know
what your budget is, but you can get this one for $75. I've never
heard a bad word about it. I use the Rolls headphone mixer, which is
even cheaper. I know that zzounds carries the MX28, and other Rolls
mixing options, and they have pretty good descriptions and pictures.

Eurorack makes a couple of compact mixers for $60 - $80.You'll
probably get two mono channels and two stereo channels. That;s plenty
for the Xpress, boombox and some extra(you'll be expanding!)
Log onto musician's friend or american musical supply or zzounds or
any number of online retail outlets. Try ebay for a real good deal!

You're probably referring to the Eurorack series of the German manufacturer
Behringer. I've got the MX602A at home which has the two mono (both XLR and
jack, balanced, phantom power) and two stereo channels. The stereo aux
return can be used as a third stereo input, and it has stereo tape in/out
(which I use to hook up my computer to simultaneously record and playback
previously recorded tracks). It's a great (though very small) mixer, noise
free and all! Really recommend it.

Regards, Erik

I use a Spirit Folio light, the older one before they went
wierd-shaped. It is essentially the same as the Mackie 1202.It is
perfect.I use the extra channels (via the pre-sends) for my personal
headphone mix.If anyone is interested, i'll elaborate.
In my humble opinion, Mackies are over-priced and over-rated. If you
look at contract riders for touring acts, Mackies are sometimes listed
as brands that are unacceptable for the sound rig....
