Wow this is great! Some questions about the brain

Wow this is great! Some questions about the brain

2003-01-07 by fiend455 <fiend455@yahoo.com>

Well I have the DTXpress II, but the pads arent in until tomorrow. :
( I am suffering a fate worse than death. All these great songs on
it. I have resorted to banging on my practice pad along to it as a
cheap replacment. :) :(

First off I cant figure out how to loop the songs. I dont want to
hit play again when the songs done. To this the manual says:
 * Some songs repeat.

Secondly, Am I forced to use the preset drumset with each song? To
this the manual says:
* When a song is switched, the drum kit also changes to a kit that
is set for that song.

So far the brain is really cool and I will post tomorrow with oh,
say 100 questions on everything.

~thanks~

Hey man, just wait till you get the pads and then you'll be having
some fun! I also just got my DTXII last week and its a blast!

To answer your first question, yes you can loop the songs. To do
this, simply push the <song> button and you'll be taken to the song
menu. Now you can select any of the 95 songs to play along to by
pressing the <+> and <-> Value buttons. (Also notice how the cursor
is blinking on the number of the song you have chosen.) Next, you
can press the Sel buttons which look like < and > to move your
cursor onto an arrow on the very right of the menu. When your
cursor is blinking on this arrow you can press the <+> and <-> Value
buttons to swtich between playback modes. The straight arrow means
the song will play only once and stop, while the arrow looping
around means the song will repeat.

You do not have to use the preset drumkits with each song
they "belong" to. I simply select the kit I want and then press the
song button and began to play with whatever drumkit I selected.

I hope my instructions were useful, but trust me, if you read your
instruction book and ask MANY questions here, such as I have, you'll
be an expert in no time! :) Now go get some blisters!

Wow thanks for the help. I just checked out that song loop function,
boy that was easy! Ok well IM off to work, and today should be the
day my pads come in (right acroos the street). Im going to assume
that they will come with all the appropriate wires? Tonight is going
to be a long night for sure. I already fell in love with some songs
on here.

Might as well throw some questions. Can I move thru banks faster,
say 10 at a time or do I just have to hold down the value button?

And are there any setup tips I should be aware of? Special tools,
scotch tape, tips or tricks for setup?

Ill be sure to post tonight after I have them set up. I get home at
8PM so I should make a post here at about 6AM the next morning, when
the need for sleep will eventually pry the sticks from my hands.

~later~

Hey no problem! I bet you can't wait for the pads huh! Yes they
all come with the stereo and mono cables. A nice big bag of em!
I'm not sure about moving through the songs quicker...I'm still
holding down the value button but maybe you can discover something
new and let us know! Theres one thing I can tell that kinda has to
do with set up. The crash cymbal will move on you when you hit it.
I mean the actual cymbal will rotate around and around so I had to
brace mine up against a little piece of the black frame and this
keeps it from moving. The cymbal is a little low but it doesn't
move. The ride cymbal comes with a stopper that fits into the
cymbal and this decreases movement. The crash cymbal has room for a
stopper but for some reason it didn't come with one. Maybe because
its a different model? Anyways, mess around a bit and check it
out! If you have a camera, try and post pics of your set up! Mine
is the photo section with another pic to come soon! Tonight will be
a long night for sure! I was up till four in the morning the first
night I had mine! Well come to think of it I was up till two last
night too...!

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Wow this is great! Some questions about the brain

If your crash is swinging around on you, and the
stopper that you mentioned you have for your ride is a
little l-shaped widget with a set screw to clamp it
onto your cymbal stand, and if you are missing one, Ed
at drumbalaya.com carries them. Now, if that isn't a
run on sentence, then I flunk English 101 today...Walt

That was the most helpful run on sentence ever! I'm going to order
one! And the guy that just got his kit should order one too!
