LOUD snare note when using HH simultaneously.

LOUD snare note when using HH simultaneously.

2003-01-10 by fiend455 <fiend455@yahoo.com>

Lets say Im playing a beat on the ride cymbal and snare. Everything
sounds even volume level. But when I go back to the HH, the FIRST
time I hit the snare its triggered at maximum volume but then the
rest of the hits are proper volume.

I cant figure out what it is. Even if I hit the snare lightly the
first time(when going back to HH), its louder than the rest of the
times I hit it. It dosent happen EVERY time but pretty close.
Sometimes Ill notice the problem, move to another kit, then back
again and the problem is gone! Or I wont notice the problem, and move
from the kit to another kit then back again, and the problem
resurfaces! I think this is what is happening, tho Im not 100%
positive.

Any Ideas?

~thanks~

Hey fiend,

This hh/snare interaction problem on the DTXII seems to be real a
nuisance. The fact that no one's complaining about the hh triggering
the snare anymore seems to indicate that Walt's advice about
specific rejection was heeded. I'm curious: Have you made any
special adjustments to your hh and/or snare inputs via the trigger
menu? The reason I ask is that it seems like some sort of level
balance between the hh and snare--whether inherent or made by you--
is getting interrupted when you move to a ride cymbal, and sometimes
when you return to the hh, it kicks in late. I can't think of any
user functions offhand that would result in that happening, but
trial and error in the trigger menu may eliminate it. It certainly
would help to know if anyone else is experiencing it. What is your
specific rejection of 8 from 2? Remember, if it's too high, then
the snare might not sound when you hit the hh at the same time. It
doesn't thereby follow that if you set it lower, the snare will
blast during or after a hh hit. Strange things do happen though. I
had a Pintech stereo cymbal that would not work correctly in one of
my kits unless I set the pad type to "PCY cup." Explain that!

Well I did see about the rejection fro 8 to 2. I am going to try that
when I get home. I have searched about 500 posts here already.
Liberatusvirus you are a great help and thank you for your input.

Oh and a question about the cymbal clamp. Can I pry it off with out
dissasembling the rack. I want to mount it on the arm for the 3rd
tom.
~thanks~

The cymbal clamps should be hinged, similar to Gibraltar Multi-Clamps.
