Ever wanted to use those rim shots? - I may be one step closer to an answer.

For those in the know, I bought the brain and hi hat trigger, but not the pads or rack.
That's because I find I get severe wrist pains from prolonged use of pads. ( Not enough wrist exercises)

So I build my own, and I had hoped to use the stereo inputs (1-8) with two pads merged through a 2xmono to stereo adapter.
Unfortunately this only works for input 9/10. But I'm happy enough with that.

Talking to Yamaha about the click problem ( see later ) I found out an interresting thing.
The rim triggers in Yamaha dual trigger pads are Condensor type triggers, now although I know little about the
actual technology behind them, I'm sure I can figure it out. Better yet, I was told you can buy spares direct from Yamaha!
That means you can get spare condensor circuits.
Ever seen a Yamaha dual trigger pad? - They look spookily similar to the single trigger variety.
So I wonder, could you buy a condensor circuit, cut open a pad and slip it in?
a bit of re-wiring and your away. One fully operational dual trigger pad.

Now I don't want to push anyone to do anything detrimental to their kit here, so think hard first.
I would give it a go, but I don't have any DTXpress pads.
I'd recommend you to check pad diameters on a yamaha site first to ensure the dual and single
trigger versions are similar sizes, then the wrest is up to you.

Back to the Click problems.

Talking with Yamaha I was surprised to hear that the DTX has the same problem!
Shocking for such a pricey unit. But even more shocking was the fact that when challenged over this
the Japanese designers claimed to never have thought it would be a problem!
They never thought anyone would need to use the Aux in or Click live!
My guy is at Yamaha Kemble (UK service group for Yamaha) is checking into it for me though.
He recons that since the DTXpress is a later module, and they were aware of the problem
from the DTX, the may have done something about it.
He's also sending me wiring diagrams in case I feel like doing something about it myself.

Oh well, we struggle on.

Out of interest, the home made pads are going great, yet to use them live, but all looks promising.
I'll download your kits soon, and send up some of my own, given half a chance.
