Hello people.

Am I the only Finnish guy on this list? I got very interested in getting
one of these kits
after reading the Modern Drummer article, and reading your posts on this
list convinced me
even more that a DTXpress is what I should get (thank you a lot!). I want a
set of e-drums
because I want to be able to practice at home. I play in three bands
('brit' pop, HC punk,
and one with an uncategorizable style and complex, weird, odd time beats),
and when I get
to play it's usually with one of those bands so I don't get to
concentratredly practice my chops
and limb indepence so much.

I just sent queries about the price to a couple of stores the other day
and am waiting
to find out if they cost much more than the $1300 US MD promised (anyway,
why should they?).

Chris Thackston wrote about posting some MP3s, which I would be very
interested in
hearing, but I do wish people will post URLs instead of posting files.
Especially as I don't
have a sound board on my computer at home (yeah, can you believe it!), so
I'll have to check
the songs out somewhere else.

I read that the click can also tell you how much you're rushing or
dragging your beat.
Have any of you found this feature useful? (Also, if 'drag' is the wrong
word for playing too
slowly, please mail me privately :))

Thanks again for your posts, they are exactly what I need.

Yeah, Lauri, you may be the only Finnish person on the list but you are
definitely not the only non-American. I think it is so cool that people
from different countries and cultures can get together on a common
discussion topic. It's nothing new but it still impresses me!

I think most of us paid less than $1000 US dollars for the DTXpress. I
don't know if you can get one for that where you live but be aware that
that is the going rate here. I'd hate for you to get ripped off.

Don't worry about the MP3's. We'll either post them to the "files" section
on the websight or provide a URL. No one should send them as attachments.

The GrooveCheck funtion is useful if you're interested in playing EXACTLY
on the beat or if you're just curious as to how you play in general. NOBODY
plays perfectly, nor, in my opinion, should they desire to. Music should
breathe. It's great to play with a click to improve your timing but I'm not
going to micromanage my timekeeping. I gladly would've traded the
GrooveCheck for the ability to turn off the click to the stereo outs. By
the way, "drag" is the correct term.

I'd love to hear some samples of your "uncategorizable" band. That's my
kinda stuff! Let me now know if you have any samples available.
