I'd say MIDI. Apparently people have had some success with To Host, 
but I've heard that the cable is hard to find, for one thing. Another 
consideration is that MIDI is a universal standard. Soundcards and 
USB devices that feature MIDI in/out are easy to find and install if 
your computer didn't already accommodate MIDI when you bought it. The 
typical Soundblaster card will accept a MIDI adaptor on its joystick 
port. Then you'll be in the same game that most everyone is playing 
to one extent or another.
