Waiting For KAT MIDI KITI

Waiting For KAT MIDI KITI

2003-02-03 by jadiebooshkie <jadiebooshkie@yahoo.com>

Hey guys...just wanted to let ya know that I bought the MidiKITI
from Jeff at Resurrection Drums. I called Alternate Mode, and they
said he is a good guy to deal with, and that I should take the KITI
he's got. I called him this morning, and he is shipping it out to
me on Tuesday UPS....I expect to receive it around Thursday or
Friday. I have to get a manuel and PS for it...but that's nothing.
I will let ya'll know if I receive it. He's gonna check it an make
sure it is working,( all are brand new, but missing manuels and
PS's...he told me he has 4 others in stock.) I will let ya know
when it comes in...thanks for keeping your eyes and ears pealed...if
anyone is interested in one of these...let me know and I will give
you Jeff's number....Jade

Jade,

That's great news. Congratulations. Are you getting your power
supply and manual from Alternate Mode? You might check around the
house to see if you already have a 500mA, 9V, positive tip AC
adaptor or a universal that will work. It will save you some money.
Keep us informed.

Ed

Jadie, what was your total cost for the kiti including shipping?

He said it would be about $210.00...I haven't received it yet...I
will keep you posted on how dependable they are...said it would ship
UPS on Tues...I am on the East Coast, so I should receive it no
later than Fri...if it is shipped when Jeff said.....Jade

I willget the manuel from Alternate Mode....I willlook
around the house for an adapter....what's a "positive
tip" adapter look like...and where can I find info on
adapters I have around the house? If I can't find
one, I will buy one from Radio Shack. I will see if
Jeff from Res Drums is good to his word, and ships it
out on Tues....keey ya posted...Jade

The power supply looks just like all your telephone, discman, etc.,
AC adaptors. They all just have their own power ratings based on the
internal electronics. All tips look pretty much the same; the
positive or negative refers to the unit's access polarity (polarity
is partly the issue in designing the Visu-lite hi hat for yamaha
modules). Manuals or adaptors themselves usually give an indication
of the tip's polarity. You don't want to risk damaage by feeding a
positive signal to something that's expecting a negative one. Nine
volts is pretty common, as is the 500mA rating. If you have an
adaptor that fills the bill except for a couple of hundred mAs one
way or the other, it still might be all right, but you should ask
Alternate Mode if performance will suffer. If you end up needing
one, call Radio Shack about it first. They don't always carry them.

What Alternate Mode told me was that had matching PS, but it screwed
on and the one I need just plugs in...I was told to get a p volt 500
miliAmp Positive center, with 2.1 millimeter connector...Radio Shack
has everything but a 2.1 millimeter connector...they have a
2.3..that said may work anyway, I just have to bring in the
module...what do you think,
Ed?....Jade --- In

The 2.3 might connect, but it also might slip off just when you're
about to hit that crescendo. If you're not too far from Radio Shack,
you could bring the module there and check the fit. A bunch of
companies make universal adaptors with various connectors and all
the other specs that you need--Belkin being one of them. You say
that you're on the East coast. PC Connection in NH and on the web
was carrying the Belkin--expensive, but you already spent $200.
What's another $12 or so. You might try hardware stores, computer
stores, or even Home Depot in your area by phone. Hold on. I just
thought of something. I have a friend with a whole box of adaptors.
Let me ask him.

I will check around my area...in the meantime, if something doesn't
turn up...especially finding a 2.1 millimeter adapter, ask your
friend and let me know if he has one....Thanks for your help,
