Newbie ... Just ordered it

Newbie ... Just ordered it

2003-02-12 by isnyne <isnyne@yahoo.com>

can anyone suggest an amp that will be loud enough for the purpose of
playing at average levels in a basement studio? Also, the quantize
feature, will it allow you to play a full song and then quantize it to
correct for mistakes?

Thanks in advance

isyne:
For home (and for stage monitoring) I use a small Kustom 4-channel PA
I got from Musician's Firend for $179. It's not great, but it works
for the basement.

Anything with a 15" woofer and a piezo horn will sound good. I use a
Peavey KB100 keyboard amp. Most keyboard amps will cover the range of
the kit very well, as long as it has a large woofer. Mine puts out 75
watts and I've never turned it up past 4 or 5. Keep in mind that with
amps, you get what you pay for. I tried to do it on the cheap and it
sucked. I still have that amp collecting dust here somewhere... I
found the KB100 used and paid $160 for it. That was a bargain.

Anyone have experience with the KX1200 ( behringer )?
A review on the Behringer Ultrawave B300 Two-Way Active Loudspeaker
would also be appreciated

I talked to someone who had one (KX1200) and they said it had a lot of
hum. Also the packaging that it's shipped in is terrible. Broken
corners are real common on them if they're bought over the net.

I got the flu and am headed for bed, but I want to give 2 cents on
this one. I don't have experience with the Behringer, but the more I
find out about the company, the less likely would I be to recommend
their products under any conditions. The price may be right (and not
because their hearts are in the right place), but the company
apparently has more suits against it for patent infringement than
Cher has wardrobe changes. I've heard that part of the reason for
Mackie's relocation to the far east has at least something to do
with Behringer's thefts. If I'm wrong, may all parties concerned
forgive me. But that's the scuttle.

Ed:
Hope your feeling better by the time you read this message.
I'm looking for some amplification to give a good stage sound as well
as support the main PA. Our main PA is a Peavy with 15"ers, but it's
overall tuning/EQing isn't best for my kit.
I would like to get another soundsource to compliment the PA and
really add low end. Wattage? I don't know; the clubs we play in
usually hold 50-100 people. I'm guessing 300 watts would be more than
enough.
I'm looking to spend no more than $800, less is best. Any suggestions?

JBL EONG2? Any good?

I don't have personal experience with the EONs, but
have seen a few people upgrade to them from Keyboard
amps, and seemingly they like them a lot. I think
they come in two power flavors, so maybe the lower
powered ones would keep you in budget while still
allowing to to keep a stereo setup? Walt
