Crossfade querry

Crossfade querry

how is the crossfade function supposed to work?

I was under the impression that it filtered two voices together, so you could have the start of one and the end of another.
My unit seems to use crossfade with velocity, the crossfade causes the voices to switch depending on how hard you hit the pad. Is this right? Surely something is going wrong here.

Let me know how your DTXpress modules work with regards to crossfade.
My interpretation may just be out.

I haven't monkeyed with this yet on the DTXpress but I've owned a Roland
Octapad for a few years and the crossfade function in that is a velocity
crossfade. I'm pretty sure that's the case with the DTXpress.

Yes my DTXpress fades between voice 1 and 2 dependant on how
hard you hit the pad. I find it usefull on the ride cymbal if
I set v1 to the main sound and v2 to a ride bell sound. If you
set the xfade just right you can turn the ride into a bell
by moving up the cymbal pad as you would on a real cymbal.
I was considering buying a bell pad but this works well for
me!!

Interesting point - Michael.h4 says when he moves UP
the cymbal he can get a bell sound by using the
crossfade. That's because the cymbal pad kicks out
more volume if you hit it near the "bell". Funny, this
was a feature we were all complaining about at the
beginning (check out the early archives) and now it
looks like someone has found a use for it. Perhaps
Yamaha made it like that after all and we were all too
dumb to figure it out.
Anyway, well done Michael.h4
