DTXpress -> 'puter

DTXpress -> 'puter

1999-12-01 by Mr. Lauri Kero

Hi all. Made my decision the other day and ordered a kit for myself. It
may just arrive
	before the end of this year, but you can't disappoint a pessimist :).

	So what are the minimum requirements for the computer link. Can I get by
with my
	486, a cheap soundboard and some shareware? I remember reading that there's
	some kinda cord included in the package.

You should be fine with your 486. There is no real
minimum requirement for MIDI. It's dog slow anyway.
What's more important is that you might have problems
recording and using the sequencing software once
you've got your MIDI link set up. You'll need an old
version of Cakewalk (or similar) coz the new stuff
just won't run on your PC.
As for the question about the lead - I assume your
referring to the MIDI In/Out lead that connects
between the DTXpress MIDI ports and the Soundcard/Game
port on the PC. Sorry, but I didn't get that lead with
my kit. Neither did I get the PC-Host 8-pin miniDIN
lead. I guess you'll have to get these yourself.
Remember, good quality MIDI leads have the
opto-isolator circuit inside. Don't buy cheap leads.
If you need any advice, I'll be here.

What is the opto-isolator circuit? That's the first I've heard of it.
