Bigboss!,
I originally bought a Terratec EWS64 and had nothing but trouble with it. Although it has two midi ports on the panel, I never got the second working. It takes upto 3 IRQs!!! and its mixer is so complicated that its often difficult to figure out where the signal is routing. Worst of all it just would not behave with Cusbase VST - it crashed, went out of sync with audio, and often went silent, and Terratec support were little help. Sorry to be bearer of such news but after 4 weeks of trying I returned it to supplier and bought a Terratec 128 PCI card and an Event Gina audio card instead - this combination works superb.

NB I bought a Terratec 128 because it had a waveblaster port to fit my Yamaha DB50 synth card to.

I recommend the Cubase newsgroup alt.steinberg.cubase..... (think I remembered that right!) for help with your card but I really don't believe you'll ever get it working to your satisfaction (based on problems others on the newsgroup had). If you only just bought, I recommend you get a refund or alternative real quick.

There are far better cards around for Cubase so check out steinbergs web site for a list of cards that they have tested (but they quite cautiously don't recommend any). If you are going to need to record audio to hard disk get a high quality PCI card such as the new Yamaha cards with multiple in/out channels and superb synths - or get a used Darla or Gina - otherwise just get a cheap Terratec 128 PCI (£29) and stick a Yamaha DB50 on it if you need a good but cheap synth (about £50 but harder to find new now, so try second hand ads).

If its only midi in/out you need for external devices then go for a USB dual midi interface - I got a steinberg type (£70) but there are many others and they are very easy to install, and work great (Windows 98 best OS). This is a great solution for adding your DTXpress to the system because individual midi ports make life easy for driving each device.
