Hi guys...just wanted to let ya'll know I have some pics of my kit
in our group's PHOTOS section. It shows a few small modifications-
I still have more work to do. And one more thing....If you plan on
purchasing anything like pads or cymbal boom arms (CYAT-80) check
with your music shop...I waited a month for my cymbal boom arm from
Yamaha, and it JUST came in today, and my dealer told me the cymbal
attachment was DISCONTINUED!!! If THAT item was...what about pads
loke the TP-80 series? Seems like Yamaha is phasing out some of the
acessories for our kits. Gibraltar acessories still work w/our
racks. Just for your info.

Jade,

Your kit looks beautiful. Nice choice of color on the Visu-lites.

Jade what kind of hardware are you using to support the pcy bell
pad? Also, when people use different cymbals or pads on their
dtxpress, they only use them for the feel or realism right?
Otherwise it all sounds the same correct?

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Pictures

Thanks Ed! I've been thinking about the Hart ecymbal
problem you and Walt had...I think maybe the Visulite
Ride just may not be that compatable w/the midi kiti.
Do you have yours hooked to the DTX or the Kiti? Mine
sounds great coming thru the DTX (although I STILL
don't have my Hosa YPP-117 yet, and I don't have the
bell hooked up yet)-but it sounds weak thru the Kat-it
sounds kinda tinny, and of course I still am trying to
get it to produce sound on every hit.

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Pictures

UNH
I used the Yamaha CYAT-80 for both cymbals-that is why
I posted that Yamaha discontinued the CYAT-but
Drumcentral may still have them in stock. My music
store orders from Yamaha. Plus my store is cheaper
than Drum Central! You could also use a Gibraltar
clamp-the SC-GRSMC (multi-clamp) and get a cymbal boom
mount or a straight cymbal mount to go into the Gib.
clamp. The beauty of the CYAT-80, is that you can use
it as a cymbal boom arm, or it will transform into a
plain cymbal arm by sliding the boom extension into
the tube part of the cymbal arm.
The Visulites...I LOVE them!! To me they feel like a
real cymbal, and I think they sound better (even
though I am having a time with my ride that is plugged
into the midi kiti module-it works better in the DTX
module. The sound just may be psychological, but to
me, they just sound better. Thank you for your
interest!

Jade,

My visu-lite ride w/bell both go through the Yamaha. I have a Drum
Tech Pole Pad (dual-zone), a Pintech Dingbat (single-zone), the
sidestick sound from my dual-zone AX14 snare, and assorted rotating
odds and ends happily going through the kiti. If you keep the kiti,
and I get some time, I'll try running the visu-lite ride through it
to see if I can confirm your suspicion.

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Pictures

Ed,
I got the Visulite Ride working...you were RIGHT!...I
had to do an auto train of the Gain and Trigger
envelope, but every time I try to save it into kit 1 I
can't, the only place I can savi it to is kit2. I
tried putting them into kit 1 and 3 and none of my
settings will go there, if I hit my pads plugged into
the Kat-they sound like synthesized notes...shouldn't
the midi channel and all my settings over-ride what is
in kits 1 and 3? What may I be doing wrong?

Jade,

That's fantastic; I was pretty sure that you'd be able to get the
ride with auto train. On the kit 1 and 3 lockout, you would think
that any new midi info that you programmed would override anything
that was there before. I'll have to think about what on the kiti
might be causing the obstacle. You might have to do a group reset
for those kits; I'll have to refresh my memory. But for the time
being, you can work with kit 2. I'll probably be around tomorrow and
maybe late tonight for an update. You can check the manual for the
relevant partial reset if you feel like it. But you know what I'd do
if I had the day? Stay in kit 2 and play until my arms give out.
You've earned it.

Re: [DTXpress] Re: Pictures

2003-03-01 by Jade

Ed,
I had the manual sitting on my snare...going thru it
page by page (there is SO MUCH info in the Kat manual,
ya can't remember it all!!) I haven't even got the
chance to read the the stapled paged booklet for the
updated midi kiti pro. I also re-attached my other
midi cable, and sent the note thru the DTX.
Also...were you aware that the Kat has a lithium
battery in it?
I have a family function to go to myself tonight, but
am gonna play drums until I have to leave. Thanks for
your wisdom and encouragement.
One more thing...I STILL don't have the BELL of the
Visulite hooked up-still waiting for the Hosa 117, so
I said the heck with waiting-I ordered one today from
Drumbalaya, when the other comes in I can use that for
my 9/10 outlets...right now I have 1/8 in going into a
1/4 inch adapter, and I don't like that, anyway, you
can never have enough cords. :D
Thanks Ed!
Jade
