SYX FILES!!!!!!!!!!!

SYX FILES!!!!!!!!!!!

2003-03-25 by chronoshollow

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
I've been looking for NEW sounds for the dtxpress that I just
purchased to augment the acoustic kit I already have. I nee dthings
like chimes (which are not already in the sound banks). I have been
unable to find many syx files on the net worth a damn. Does anyone
have any syx files to share or know the location of some worth
downloading to my brain? Thanks

Chrono:
What kind a chimes are you looking for? Orchestral chimes or wind
chimes? Windchimes can be found in the (P) percussion group. I think
they are labeled as Wndchm. I don't believe orchestral chimes can
found.

Chronos:

Hmm, unless I'm mistaken, the DTXpressII (I'm not sure about the "1"
version) does not have any ability to receive sample files and then
associate them with a pad. The DTX is not a sampler, but is rather a drum
trigger processor and a sound module with an elaborate, but finite number
of sounds.

In order to add sounds to their kit, most people use the MIDI out of the
unit to send triggers to other samplers or sound modules. The SYSex files
available to the DTxpressII have been only arrangements of the existing
sounds and pad triggers. The closest thing I've found in a SYSex was an
interesting re-tune and layering of two existing voices that created a
new derivative sound, but again, no *new* samples. Of course, I could be
completely wrong... Anyone care to comment? :)

Vern,

You appear to be right. Other modules take samples (ddrum, for
example), but not the xpress.

Re: [DTXpress] SYX FILES!!!!!!!!!!!

2003-03-25 by Calla..

I've Just bought the DTXPress 2, about a week ago. (WHEEEE!!) -Partly
to use for live usage, and partly to use for composing more organic
drum patterns.
I use 'Reason' from 'Propellerheads', with the DTXPress 2, and, it,
is.. BLISS!!

Try the free demo! For both PeeCee, and MAC!! =)

http://www.propellerheads.se/downloads/demos/main.html

Use the NN-XT sample player. It's the bomb, man!
The only thing, that is a bit bogus, is the HH control.. I'll take some
tinkering.. You have to compromise!
But You can get some darned cool patterns/sounds, with a bit of FXs and
a good NN-XT setup!
To anyone, that has bought 'Reason', (2.0,) I can mail You a NN-XT
patch, for You to work on / check out.

Mind You, that You should make a user kit preset, on the DTXPress
brain, for use with 'Reason', or it'll be a bit too confusing.. That
is, assigning each trigger's MIDI output note, (and possibly MIDI
channel,) to a more suitable note(/channel), to make assigning of
samples in NN-XT, and editing (if recording to 'Reason' is wanted, a
LOT easier!

Feel free to ask anything. ;o)

Kind regards,

Calla..

(And, oh.. Welcome to the list, Calla..) =)
