DTXpreszs MIDI problems

DTXpreszs MIDI problems

2003-03-31 by Alex

It has been a long time since I tried to do any midi sequencing with
my drum kit. Now I have a problem.

I am able to get the pads to send MIDI, but I can not get them to
respond to MIDI. The synth section of the drum brain works fine, but
I can not get the drum sounds to work on channel 10.

I know if I re-set factory settings it will work, but I don't want to
do that because I have a lot of custom drum kits that I want to keep.

This has worked before. I don't know what to do. I have been over
every damn setting I can find. What do I need to do to make sure I
can get the brain to play back MIDI drum notes??

Alex,

Are you using the DTXPII? What are you getting instead of drums,
nothing or the dreaded piano?

Well it will send midi to the sequencer. Also, when I change to a
channel other than 10, I can use any patch in the brain and it
works. The problem is, the brain won't play any notes sent to
channel 10 amoung any of the drum patches..

Oh by the way, I am using the older dtxpress drum brain, not the II.

Alex,

I'm doing this quickly because I have to go, so forgive me if I'm
too obvious or irrelevant. Hopefully, somebody else will pick up on
the problem. But your utility mode settings (UT Midi Receive) are
ok, right? And in the song mode you've tried drumV instead of meldy?
Just making sure that channel 10 is enabled for playback in every
case, that it isn't muted somewhere.

Re: DTXpreszs MIDI problems - update and solution

2003-04-09 by Alex

Ed, I tried your suggestion. I also tried the suggestions of members
of other yahoo groups. Basically nothing worked at all. So I took a
different approach which solved the problem.

By the way I have the original DTXpress not the DTXpressII

Ok, So there is a MIDI dump option to dump only the user-set drum
patched. I poked around Sonar and found a library of sysex bank I
could use. I dumped into Sonar. Then I reset the DTXpress to
facotry settings. Midi seemed to work fine. Then I dumped my pacth
presets back into the DTXpress. Again everything works.

So that was my solution.

Alex
