Amplification Devices: Which do you use for playing live?

Amplification Devices: Which do you use for playing live?

2003-04-22 by underneathheaven

I got a questions for all the giggers out there! What kind of amp
do you use? How many watts? How much? What do you think of it?
(Can you hear yourself and your band mates pretty good?) Thanks!

No amp here. I run straight through the mains. They are different
depending on the venue. However, most of the places we play are
fairly small, so we end up using a pair of 15" 2-way speakers, and
leave the 18"s at home. I use a monitor with a 10" woofer and 1"
driver. I have the entire mix (not just drums)coming through this
monitor.
I believe the main PA is 1200 watts total (600 watts main speakers
and 600 watts monitors or all 1200 watts going in to the main), but I
could be wrong.

You must have a really good sound guy. I can't imagine what it would be
like if the drums were to low in the mix... You'd end up smacking the
cr@p out of the pads.. :) Though I haven't had the chance to use my set
on stage, I imagine I would have my own amp/speaker right behind the
throne to make sure I could hear myself! :)
