RE: [DTXpress] Control in VST

RE: [DTXpress] Control in VST

Dave,
I'm using VST with the DTXpress - so far working great

(remember to turn off midi thru so the DTXpress doesn't sound twice)

Have you managed to get the DTXpress to change kits from VST - I can't seem to select user kits that I have set-up on programs 52, 53 etc. It always reverts to the general midi kit.

You can control each parameter - done on the Yamaha DB50 but not tried on the DTXpress - if I succeed I'll let you know.

Thanks for the reply Paul.
In response to your question: Yes, I am able to select all the kits
from VST, including the user kits, using the "Program Change" command
in a mixermap. The other controls that affect the kits as a whole
seem to work for me also; it's only the individual sounds that I
don't know how to control. I have a hunch that you use "Control
Changes 6,100,and 101" to accomplish this, but the manual doesn't
clarify any of this for me.
Thanks for the help,
Dave Collett

Re: Control in VST

2000-07-20 by David Collett

I received a return phone call today from Yamaha tech support and was
informed that the midi features of the DTXpress and also the DTX do
not support changing the individual drum sounds. No wonder I could
never get it to work. It seems they could have incorporated a couple
more controls in the midi with a little more effort, but, I guess you
can't have everything. Aside from that the DTXpress is great,
especially for the price.
