New owner here! (New drummer too!)

New owner here! (New drummer too!)

2003-08-12 by Randy

Just thought I'd introduce myself real quick. So a quick history:

Was in a little band in high school that didn't go anywhere, and I
play guitar and keyboards. I've always wanted to drum, and knew that
acoustic drums wouldn't work out because of the noise. So, I've
always had an eye open for an eletric drum set. So, in typical "my
life is going nowhere" fashion, I decided to start looking, and
immediately found that the best deals around for a decent complete
setup was a used DTXPRESS, and I found one local for $650 including a
cheap throne and a used kick pedal and they even threw in a used set
of sticks :)

So, I'm having a blast with this kit and hopefully I'll be around
this site a bit to chat.

Randy,

Good to have you with us. Don't hesitate to ask questions or make
suggestions. Did the previous owner give you the benefit of his/her
user kits, or was the module reset to ground level?

It was pretty rough, I reset it myself.

Well, after 6 days and a lot of effort, I'm returning the DTXpress
tomorrow. In addition to the used set I purchased being riddled
with problems (3 cables needed replacing, the cymbals spin around
when struck, the hi-hat pedal isn't fully functional, etc), I just
don't love this style of drum pads, so I've purchased the Hart
Dynamics Prodigy set with the mesh heads, and I got a used DM5 to
try with it. I figure I'll upgrade the module as desire and budget
permits.

Thanks for all of the help this week, it was much appreciated. I
bet that if the set was newer (and in working condition) I'd
probably keep it. As it is, it's costing me less to go with a new
set!

Adiós, arrivederci, au revoir!
