Well ... good news all round!

Well ... good news all round!

2003-08-15 by moosetication

Imagine my delight on return from a superb holiday to find the group
back in safe hands! I'm very happy to have caught up with all the
good news of the last couple of weeks. Also good to see de-lurking
going on.

Well done and thanks to one and all for persistence, to 'Zilla for
constructive interference, and to Vern for his continued offers of
re-housing during the "dark times" and for takin' it like a man when
we didn't go. I'd like to add my support to his kind offer to host a
better photo gallery than Yahoo can provide.

I'd be glad to extend the "timezone support" for moderation, if I
can be of some use.

Now. A simple choice. I go and see how many quintillion messages are
waiting in 'Zilla's place, or I go and take care of the blanket-weed
that seems to have taken over the pond. Hmmm... tricky.

Welcome back, glad you returned safely. I would say go play drums for an
hour, then ask the question again, if your still undecided, play the drums
for another hour.....

A strategem with universal applicability! I like your thinking!

FWIW, I wasn't ever interested in dragging the group in one direction or
another, I just am not a big fan of Yahoo groups and I had the resources
to offer, so I offered :) The DTXpressions.com site gives us a place to
store things and a place that is not subject to the arbitrary rules the
Yahoo group places on all it's users, so I think we have a good thing
going.

I'm waiting for the M2F plugin to be released for PHPBB that should allow
us to overcome one of the last hurdles to adoption of the message forum
and that is the ability to participate through email, web or both. Right
now PHPBB is web-based with email *notification* when a thread has been
touched. It doesn't allow digests or email thread reading/participating.
As soon as M2F is released, I'll set that up and see if we can put one
more nail in the Yahoo coffin! >:)
