dtx + midi + os x + cubase + midiman = ????

dtx + midi + os x + cubase + midiman = ????

2003-08-16 by pulsetodd

The problem of course with recording electronic drumkits as an analogue sig=
nal is
they send a stereo out for the combined kit. This makes it difficult to re=
mix different
voices (kick, snare etc) and pull a decent mix after the final takes. The =
solution in
theory should be to record in midi using your electronic drumkit...

Now if I can only work out how to set it up. This is the recipe so far...

1. Buy an iMac with the latest version of OS-X, a USB Midiman Interface, lo=
ad the
drivers

2. Dust off your DTXPRESS set it up, connect it into the Midiman/Midisport =
box per
the instructions

3. Check out cubase.net for the instructions you need to set up your Midisp=
ort 2x2
for OS X (the one's they don't tell you about). Follow these, learn a few =
things.

4. Check your configuration via the dtxpressions.com website.

5. Double check everthing.

6. Scratch your head and wonder why you are not getting a signal into your =
Midiman
or into Cubase.

7. Post at the cubase & dtxpress forums for advice / wisdom.

Any clues? Anyone using their kit with OS X or Cubase?

------------------
yup, uh huh, hmmm, uh huh, uh huh, sorry, you lost me,
can you run that by me again?

Not using Mac/Midiman/Cubase, but ... have you done a factory reset
of the DTXpress module? There's a well-documented bug (at least in
the DTXpressII anyway) where MIDI fails to work unless you have done
so.

Useful to know... did that, no joy. I think my problems are more deeply seated.
