Roland Main event 2

Roland Main event 2

2003-10-08 by pdsonline2002

I don't say much very often, but I have recently returned from
Roland's main event 2 and it has prompted me to post this message.

I don't know if many of you are aware but every year Roland arange a
show where they show off thier electronic percussion products. There
are hands on sessions, drum clinics and a chance to see some truely
stunning drummers performing on electronic kits. This year they had
60 electronic kits set up in a room for you to go and play with. They
had everything from the TD6 to the stunning TD10.

Events like this are not just entertaining to us drummers but they
also go a long way to raise the profile of electronic drums, not to
metion the sales that are generated for Roland.

It's a great shame that Yamaha don't do something similar. There must
have been close to 1000 people there on sunday and of those that are
new to this sphere of drumming they probably think that Roland have
got the market sewn up.

Well thats my moan over with. I'm going back to play with my DTXpress
2 now.

C Ya.

I know what you mean. Roland owns the airwaves. Roland's prices will
not come down until it has competition in the marketplace to match
its competition in other respects. Yamaha doesn't appear to be all
that interested; ddrum is a niche product, which deserves much
better; and the smaller independents have to find a way to work with
and around the industry standard.
