Why is the sound "muffled" when the song starts?

Why is the sound "muffled" when the song starts?

2003-10-22 by Michael Y.

Hi guys,

Usually when I practice, I use the preprogrammed songs on my
DTXPRESS 1 module. I mute the original drum part and I play my own
beat to the music. The sound is perfect while the music is off.

Now here is my problem, when I press play on the module, the drums
sound a bit muffled (less echo) than if there was no music playing.
In order to get rid of the "muffle" i need to advance to a different
drumset, while the background music is playing, then go back to the
one that I was using. While this solves the problem, it gets quite
annoying going back and forth all the time. Is there a way that I
can make my drums sound like how they are whether the music comes on
or not?

Regards,
Mike

Does anyone know what the problem is? (read below)
What if i decide to do a system reset, will that solve the problem?
How do I do a system reset on the DTXpress 1?

Regards,
Mike

I don't think a reset will help. I think it's a flaw in the DTXpress
(I and II). What seems to happen is that although the drum part is
muted, the kit reverb setting for the song is applied to whatever
kit you've selected. You have found one way to avoid it (switch kits
back and forth). The only other way I can think of it is to copy the
built-in song to a user song, and edit the reverb setting for the
song.
