Is there a SYSEX editor for the DTXpress?

2000-11-28 by jjpierce@ix.netcom.com

Hi All,

Does anyone know if there is a SYSEX editor available for the
DTXpress? I'm just not real fond of all the menu hopping and button
dwiddling need to set parameters on the our little beat box.

Also, I remember an older message asking for ideas for a new piece of
software to use with the DTXpress. Well, if a SYSEX editor doesn't
already exist, this is my contribution to the list. I have no idea
how difficult it would be to write, but it would be nice if was more
than just a data dump. If it could identify each parameter and it's
maximum and minimum values, plus show the "default" or "normal"
value, that would be helpful when experimenting. Using this in
conjunction with DTXchange, the SYSEX loader, would be great.

By the way, if such a beast already exists, just point me in it's
direction.

Thanks for your help,
jp

As far as I know, there is no such program. But it's
an idea I admit to having toyed with when I wrote
DTXchange. The values of the parameters all seem to be
there in the SYX file - it's just a question of
getting them out!

Problem is, time's a bit short these days. I work in
London now but live 100 miles away, so my kit is only
played with at weekends.
But I'd love to get into a "proper" project and
develop a fully rounded DTXpress utility. If only
there were more hours in the day.....

Do you program yourself?
What about anyone else out there?
