Overlooked solution to headphone volume prob

Overlooked solution to headphone volume prob

2000-11-30 by garyduke@idirect.com

I may be mistaken, and someone could have mentioned
this before, but one extra thing that can be
done to raise the headphone output volume is
to double-click UTIL and at the

UT TG MASTER
EQ Lo=+ # Hi=+ #

screen raise the Lo and Hi values to 12! Try it.

Please comment if you find this observation useful!

This setting is used to modify the bass and treble of
the output sound. If this is perceived as an overall
increase in volume then it's a good tip.

Getting some nice quality, studio headphones is the
best way I've found though - but not the cheapest!

Its not a _perceived_ increase in volume, it _is_ an increase in
volume.
This is similar to the way your stereo sounds louder when bass and
treb dials are maxed as opposed to them being in the middle. The
volume of the bass and treble frequencies are raised. If both are
raised together, most of the sound is amplified.

Just try it.

Does this setting not change the overall set highs & lows? I would be concerned of the effect on PA sound.

yup, its more suited to those who don't have a set of good low-
impedance cans, who just want to pump up the vol for practicing, not
for live situations...
