DTXpress 3

I'm wondering if the new DTXpress3 cymbals can be used without any
problem on the DTXpress2. Specially the hi-hat en 3 zone cymbal look
very interesting to me.

I hope the hi-hat sound has improved, I think the ones on the
DTXpress2 are far too light, any (new) tips on that?

Can anyone tell me how to get a new midi file into the brain?
Everytime I try this I can load one song and then I get a memory full
message. I thought I could load 32 songs?

Hi Tom,

The new bow/edge/bell round cymbal should work on inputs 2, 6, and 7
of the II module. I'd be surprised if the new hi hat were not
compatible with Yamaha's old principles (which, in general, are the
same as everyone'else's except ddrum's, leaving aside the question of
polarity), especially since the STD version of the III seems largely
to resemble the II in all but a few changes to the module. We could
ask our correspondent in Japan, who has already provided one report.

My guess is that you're probably downloading your MIDI file
correctly, but that you're getting the memory full message because of
of a continuous loop between your source and the module. That is, the
same data keeps cycling through your MIDI in and out connections,
clogging up the DTXpress module's memory. Try either disconnecting
the module's MIDI out to your computer, or disabling MIDI merge in
the module's Utility menu (2-7).
