My kit sounded bad last night

My kit sounded bad last night

2003-12-07 by slushycow

Well, I had a gig last night and my kit had a few problems. I guess
the biggest problem is that I was running directly through the PA and
the place was bigger than usual, so I strained the PA. But I was
still drown out buy the others. I had to change all my settings so it
wouldn't feed back. I couldn't relax and play all night. For the
first time I really wished I had an acoustic kit again. But I guess I
should I invest in an Amp for my kit, but these days it's upgrade
after upgrade. So I'm pretty down. I just wanted to share my
experience.

Also, I will post a picture of my gig last night. I played with the
DTX III cymbals last night. Chaeck it out.

Sorry to hear about the gig. There are a few things to eliminate
that next time though. If the plave was "big" and the kit was
drowned out then the other instruments should have turned down. Do
you have a monitor behind you? Was everyone going through the PA?

Remember that a live gig is much like a recording. There has to be
proper balance. By reading your post it sounds like everything else
was over powering you. if the pa was maxed...then others should have
turned down, I'd like to know more about the gig, room, set up and
all. In all seriousness, there is no reason for you to be over
powered and drwoned out.
Later,
Billy

Hey William,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the Pa was maxed out. But it is a very
small PA. I had 3 mics and two guitars running out of it. I left the
bass out due to overpowering. I tried to turn the others down, but
during sound check, people said were weren't powerful enough to hit
the back of the room. It's not a big club, especially for Japan. But
much bigger than the other places we play. Until now I have had no
problems. I posted a picture of the gig. You can see a little of the
set up. The club has asked us to play monthly now, so I gotta come up
with a solution.

Thanks again,

Jon,

Now that you have a chance to use the new cymbals, what is your
impression of them? Also, what is you opinion of the RHH130 hihat now?
Still in the States starving for DtxpressIII info.

Thanks,

OGD
