Hi there,
Being very new to the dtx, and not being very computer minded, can
anybody help me with a basic question.
I want to download some of the kits from the group, will the yamaha
ux16 usb to midi in out cable do the trick. Or do I need a 8 pin
mini din to 25 pin d-sub cable????

thanks

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Yamaha's "To Host" cable from module to PC serial port (8-pin mini
din to D-SUB 25- or 9-pin) is simply an alternative to a standard
MIDI connection from the module to a soundcard, for which you'll need
an adaptor if your MIDI has to go through a game port, or USB device.
The UX16 should work, but it costs $50. If you have a soundcard, a
MIDI cable for it would cost $25 or so. If you don't mind my asking,
what have you rounded up for downloading?

Ed

Hi Ed,
Thanks for the reply. I am sorry if I am sounding a bit thick but I
am not sure what you mean when you say " what have you rounded up
for downloading"
If you mean what do I want to download, then it is some of the kits
that other members have made.

I use a sony laptop so he sound card is not excelent, i do have a 25
and a 9 pin socket.
Thanks for taking the time to have answered me.
Dave.

Dave,

I was just wondering if you had run across a goldmine of DTXpress
user kits other than those here that you could share with other
members.

Ed,

Now I understand, and no I have not found such a collection of
downloads, but rest assured if I do you will be the first to know.

All the best

Dave.
