Problems with a DTXPRESS which I just bought

Problems with a DTXPRESS which I just bought

2004-01-16 by joerg_b52

Dear all,

I just bought a used DTXPRESS, but still with warranty on it, without
a user manual...

Basically, I do have 2 questions:

1.) I do not get any rim sounds out of the pads, is that normal? Is
this not a function of the DTXPRESS? It came with TP60 pads. Do
they not have this "2-zone"-functionality?

2.) My hihat pedal does not seem to work at all. The hihat pad just
produces an open sound, once I connect the hihat control cable at
the sound module (without connecting it to the pedal), the sound
switches to a closed hihat. This does not change when I then connect
the cable to the pedal... The cable itself is not the problem, I
tried it with various others...

My first thought was that somebody had messed up the configuration,
so I used the utility section of the sound module to set it back to
the factory defaults, but it still does not work...

So, am I just too stupid or this is a warranty case? Again, I have
no user manual where I could possibly get more documentation on
this...

I appreciate any help and comments on this.

Thanks and regards,

Joerg Brandt

The TP60 is a mono zone pad, it does not have a rim switch. The trigger
inputs 1-8 are stereo inputs but you must use a stereo Pad/Rim pad like the
TP80S or TP65S to get the rim sound to trigger. You will also need to use a
stereo cable. Sorry.

Verify you are using a stereo cable to the hihat pedal not a mono cable.

When something doesn't work as expected, no questions are stupid, just bear
with us and let's see if we can walk you through this, via a question/answer

OG covered your technical queries, but you can get product manuals at
DTXpressions (http://www.dtxpressions.com/) - just follow the
downloads link.

The dtxpression site only has the Dtxpress I & II manuals currently, so if
anyone needs one for a different kit you can go to the Yamaha site.

To get anyone of the DTX series drums, the manuals are available for
download on Yamaha's site in various languages
(English/German/French/Spanish/Dutch/Portuguese) at:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/

for the DTX v2, DTxpress I, II & III, Dtxtreme.

The Dtxtreme IIS manual is the only one not available yet at the site. Once
you select the language, and agree to the usage policy, select "Electronic
Musical Instruments", then do a search for "DTX", and the listing for the
manuals will come up. They are in ADOBE PDF format.
