Recording with 2 different kits???

As you know i am very new to e-drums,and one problem i have encountered is recording a song on track 1,which is all fine and dandy,but then trying to change the kit for track 2 so i can add effects and random stuff to the 1st track.I cant seem to get it to work,is it possible to do this?
