More Followup: Very Basic But Quite Important Question

More Followup: Very Basic But Quite Important Question

Sorry to be annoying, but i forgot to mention something in my last
post about soundcards/MIDI interfaces...so here it is:
I asked about buying sound cards and MIDI interfaces, but would it
be easier/cheaper to just buy the Tascam US 122or the M-Audio
Audiophile USB? Would one of those do the job of a soundcard and
MIDI interface?
Thanks again, and sorry to be a nuisance,
Ferdie

If you got a Firewire port (also called an IEEE 1394 port) on that
laptop (hope you did), I would go for the Firewire Audiophile. It
will do your audio and MIDI in one nice package.
If you don't have a Firewire port, then go for the USB Audiophile.
I've never used the Tascam, you may want to do some research on the
Internet on it.

Check out www.homerecording.com, they have a decent message board
that has plenty of discussions on soundcards and recording.

Hope you got WinXP Pro, at least 512MB RAM, and the biggest hard
drive they could wedge into that laptop. :)

Bill

Both will do both, depending on your system and the software used you
might want to go for the M-Audio piece, less latency and driver issues
with the majority of HD recording and sequencing suites.
UNLESS you're using a Cakewalk product, then I'd recommend the Lexicon
Omega
