Amp recomendations (conclusion)
2004-02-08 by Ken
I sat down at my DTXpress setup and picked a kit that I found
to have the highest frequency ride cymbal sound using only the headphones.
I then powered up this 60 watt Behringer bass amp and by fiddling with the
equalizer knobs was able to reproduce the exact same sound through the amp. (at
least to my ears) Despite what many have said, This amp is just the ticket. I
would suggest to anyone that is in the market for an inexpensive amplifier
($140) for their kit, give this baby a chance. You can always return it.
Although I have the option to return it for credit towards a Keyboard amp, I am
going to keep it.

So loud I can't crank it all the way, otherwise it causes the drum set to
double trigger or mistrigger because of the vibrations! The power supply on
this amp seems to have a very high damping factor (ability to accurately
control the specific movements of the speaker cone - if the sound needs to
stop, it needs to stop NOW, not a few microseconds later). You have to push
the amp really good to get the 15" subwoofer's voice coil clanging against
the back of the magnet, which you get with very low frequencies if the amp
isn't strong enough or tight enough.
