I discovered that my local GC had a Pintech Spirit Kit on
clearance for $450 (best price on web I saw: $698). I noticed that
the single zone drums used (snare and toms) were the same ones used
for the toms on their higher end Elite kit.

And I really was tired of waiting for the IIISP to show up,
especially the fact that the IIISP and ExtremeII look like they may
not show up until May...

I asked what they could do for a module... how about a TD6 for
$410?

Hmmm, so for $860 I could be edrumming NOW on a mesh kit. And
with an upgrade here and there from Drumbalaya over time I could work
my way into a 'nicer' mesh kit (14" pinetch 2 zone snare ~$200, ~$200
mesh BD trigger, ~$120 for a ZB2 cymbal (ride), new Hats, etc.) With
the TD6 I could have 4 toms, ride, 2 crash, splash, BD, snare, hats.

Add the fact that I'm a sucker for the "only one left" sales
pitch, well, I just had to do it.

    ;)

Well, maybe if the IIISP is really cool when it comes out, I'll
just have to get it and have the mega-hybrid kit.

    ;)

Congratulations on your new kit. You'll love the Pintech pads. Brian
says that the TC cymbals are better than they used to be (if they're
the ones you got), and the TD6 won't let you down. Keep us informed
about how it goes.
