Alex,

Like most of the modules in modern history, the DTXpress module will
not accept samples, though, as always, the kit itself can be used to
trigger samples stored elsewhere via MIDI through the module.

Hi,
I recently installed Native Instruments Battery (sample trigger software) with the "Studio Drums" Cd. A friend was triggering it with his DTXpressII.
The soundcard was not fast enough (not ASIO) and the PC quite slow so it was not "playable" with our configuration.
But the quality of the samples and the power of the software let us guess the powerful weapon it can be..... TRY IT !

I'm triggering loops and one-shot samples through Ableton Live and
Reason with my rig. Granted, my rig is Roland-based, but it's all MIDI,
so it'll work just as nicely with a DTXpress of any kind.
I love throwing samples in Live, because you can instantaneously assign
MIDI notes (or, in this case, pad assigns) to any type of audio clip,
or even combinations, entire song sections, etc. And, with effects.

check it out at www.ableton.com

If the soundcard you were using was a Sound Blaster, you can try the
kX drivers: http://kxproject.lugosoft.com
They are optimized drivers to get low midi latency (around 10ms or
lower), I've tried them with Groove Agent (and obviously DTX) and
they are not so bad..
