DTXpress III

2004-03-04 by flexsez

I am about 2 days away from ordering a new DTXpress III kit but have
one nagging question about the hi hat.

Does the new DTXpress III have the capability of infinite hi hat
sounds? Or am I limited to "closed" and "full open"?

I'll let you guys know what I think of the set when it comes in. I
plan to order it through Drumalaya.com, but the guys there say they
won't get any for a couple weeks.

The hat is variable, at least to some extent. You'll certainly get
more than fully open and fully closed, as can be said of every
version of the DTXpress. However, all electronic hi hats until now
have suffered from a narrow range of open sounds relative to acoustic
hi hats, some more than others, but Yamaha has never made the
DTXpress hat a simple "switch" type.
