I have found a dtxpress Kit, close to me for 775.00. It has one extra pad. Should I buy it or just buy a DTXIII new for 1000.00 from musians friend. What are the advantages? Does anybody else have a better deal?

If the kit that you found for $775 is a DTXpressI, and you have enough money, buy the III. Apart from the risks that always apply to buying something used, the III has better cymbal voices, three-sound capability for cymbals and snare instead of two, a more collapsible rack, and maybe another thing or two that I can't remember. If the kit that you found is a DTXpress II in decent condition, and you need to save money, you could certainly do worse. The standard version of the III kit is not so different from the II, except for then new improved cymbals, which we can't profile for you yet. The IIISP is an entirely different story. If money were no object, that's the one I'd recommend. Ed

Thanks Ed, I have played accoustic kits all my life because I had no need of being quite. So this is new to me, I have been shopping around. I live in the Keys so to find a set close to me is kinda nice because I can go look at it. the kit is on e bay Item number 3707022260. Maybe you can do me a favior and take a look. The bid is 660.00 but I talked to him and the reserve is 775.00. Money is allways an issue, but if the sacrifice is right I will take it. And as I said I'm looking if anybody is selling. Thanks for replying that was very kind. As I said electric drums will be a new world for me. One more question: Can I record drum tracks directly to my PC and burn a disk, for someone else to lay tracks on with this kit. Or for practice/drum lessons.

I took a look. It is definitely a DTXpressI. I checked the prices of recent auctions for this version, and his reserve price seems too high. I might buy it for $660 but not $775. All things considered, unless budget compelled you to buy a II at the $700 to $800 mark, I still think that the IIISTD would be the more prudent purchase. > Thanks for replying that was very kind. > As I said electric drums will be a new world for me. > One more question: Can I record drum tracks directly to my PC and > burn a disk, for someone else to lay tracks on with this kit. > Or for practice/drum lessons. The DTXpress has full MIDI capability, which means that you can record to a sequencer on your PC and do as you will with the result, as well as record to the tracks of the DTXpress'on-board sequencer. Electronic drums are a gas. You won't be sorry. Ed

Thanks again, The kit is up to 775 anyway. I did some more looking around, I can get that kit DTX1 brand new for 900.00. So I have made another, Well 2 choises, I think I will buy a TDXIII brand new. But I put a bid on a Roland TD compactlast night, For 405.00plus 40.00 shipping. It's three years old. Time will tell. I'm not going over 450.00 for it. What would be a good amp to buy used, for an electric kit. The clubs around me are small. And the music More on the acoustic side. Plus I do not need to drown out my hand drums. Would a small Keyboard amp be a good choise for getting Highs and Lows. Or should I buy a drum monitor. Most that I have seen are running 300.00 or more. How many amps will I need for a good sound? 30 or more? 15 I'm pretty sure will not cut it. I will read some on this forum My questions are Probible there already. --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "emf" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote: > --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "sabian2626" <sabian2626@y...> wrote: > > I have played accoustic kits all my life because I had no need of > > being quite.
