Double Trigger Problem

Double Trigger Problem

2001-01-18 by Boehmer, Scott A. (PSI Net)

I am having trouble with double triggers in my high hat trigger. I changed the self-rejection as well as the rejection in the trigger menu and for the whole kit as well and can't seem to get back to original configuration. Can someone tell me which setting I need to change to get back to where I started from? I can't remember if in the rejection settings if the "0" is more time between triggers or 1-9 is the delay.

Thanks for any input that you an give.

Scott from North Carolina!

Remember that the hi hat is actually 4 triggers in one, if memory serves. You have "open", "closed", "heal splash", and a closing hi hat sound.
both "open" and "closed" can have different rejection settings I use 0 for self rejection and rejection (no rejection at all) as you increase the numbers you increase the delay between the last signal and next. A Self Rejection value above 3 won't allow buzz rolls or flams, and having a high Rejection value (from all the other kit) may give problems because the pad will not recognise any hit occurring with any other pad hit (like a hi-hat and snare hit together). Do remember to set all the hi hat voices onto one group, so that only one sound can be heard at any time, that way closing the hi hat cuts off the open sound just like the real thing.
Hope that helps, can't give you any factory settings, but if you need to you could choose a default trigger setup from the trigger menu and write down all the values from there.

Thanks for the reply and help ... I tried changing the rejection settings this seems to have solved the problem. I had forgoten about the 4 voices for the HH. I gets confusing at times trying to figure out which trigger or voice setting is causing the problems.

Double Trigger Problem

2001-03-13 by Boehmer, Scott A. (PSI Net)

I have been having trouble with double triggers from my high hat ... after doing a factory reset with no resolution to the problem ... I exchanged the pad ... no more doubles ... any way to fix that trigger? Can they come loose inside the pad?

If anyone has found a way to repair I would like to know the fix. Thanks,

Scott

The pads look pretty difficult to get into and it is the last thing
that I would attempt, try some sensitivity settings.

Prevention is better than cure, the HH and Snare take the most
beatings so rotate the pads around on a regular basis so they all get
thier fair share. I do mine twice a month or so.

Hi,
I had a couple of pads go flaky.
Try:
1:
spray wd40 on a 1/4 jack and insert into the pad and move it around.
This cleans the contacts which sometimes oxidize.
2:
disassemble the pad, remove the circuit board, and resolder all
connections. Sometimes hairline fractures occur which are very hard
to see right at the point the through hole connects to the traces. You
may have to 'scratch' the trace to build a small solder bridge.

3:
Replace the piezo sensor with a Radio Shack 273-091 ( about $2 ).

4:
I have seen the pot on the circuit board go bad, again, this can be replaced
at Radio Shack

That's all there is - there's not much to one of these pads.

Thanks for the information ... but if it takes that much to fix the problem I am going to have the pad replaced the kit is only 6 months old ... granted it gets a workout once a week or so ... but the pad shouldn't flake out that soon.
