Question on snare dropouts...

Question on snare dropouts...

2004-04-02 by kimken96

Hi all.

I have been getting dropouts from the snare trigger when played
simultaneous with the kick. It won't do it every time I play them
together but it does do it enough to be annoying.

It only does it with the kick - never with another pad.

BTW - I'm using a DTXPress I with a DIY mesh head snare along with a
KP65 kick tower.

Thanks...

Hi,

Is there any physical connection between the two triggers that would
make the snare react specifically to the kick, or you using the kick?
Those two pads would seem to be safe from each other, unless they
share a common platform or an indirect interaction. If we can't
isolate any such relationship, then we'd have to look at the trigger
parameters of the kick itself. What are the snare's gain and minimum
velocity numbers? Just for the record, are the snare's rejection
numbers high?

Thanks for the quick reply Ed.

I'm an idiot - the snare's rejection was on 9. I must've missed it
when I was dialing through the settings.

Problem solved.

I'll post a pic of my DYI drums (13" snare ans 2 12" toms) if you guys
are interested. I based the design off of Derksens involved trigger
setup (Roland cone, isolated cross members and Radio shack piezo).

Thanks again,

Ken

Ken,

Do post the pictures in our never-ending quest to demystify the
insides of e-drums. Beatnik's designs are classic.
